THE STORY SO FAR
In 2017, Melbourne Football Club ruckman Max Gawn had an idea to start a food truck that hones in on his love of bloody good coffee and humble, real food. What started as a little thought grew into searching for a vehicle and dreaming to purchasing a 1979 Ford F100 to restore and fit out into a food truck.
Max then partnered up with his two older brothers, Todd and Adam to bring the idea to life. Adam, a carpenter by trade, completed the entire fitout of the truck from scratch on the Gold Coast. It features double french wooden doors, wooden bench tops and caters to fit Max’s 6”9 frame inside. Once completed in late 2018 the truck was transported to Melbourne where it now operates under Todd who has been at the helm of hospitality venues such as The Continental Hotel Sorrento, Queensberry Hotel Carlton and Riva St Kilda.

who are we?
Although Max is most well known as the towering figurehead in the AFL, playing for the Melbourne Football Club - he is equally passionate about bloody good coffee and humble, honest food.
Having grown up in a family that’s largely centred around hospitality, it’s no surprise that Max is a gun on a coffee machine and has been a regular fixture at his mother’s cafe - Olive at Loch in South Gippsland for many years during the off season.
It’s also of no great surprise that Max is behind the brand new EastEnd Wine Bar in Hawthorn East.
Having been at the helm of many great venues across Melbourne for a number of years (Sorrento’s Continental Hotel, Riva St Kilda, The Queensberry Hotel & The Waterside Hotel) as well as putting on various festivals and events around Melbourne - heading up operations is a natural fit for the eldest of the Gawn Bros.
This project would not have been possible without Adam. Having being tasked with restoring the F100 and then constructing the kitchen on the back - it’s been no easy task to say the least.
Adam is the tradie of the family, owning and operating Gawn Building on the Gold Coast. There’s plenty more to watch out for from Adam & Gawn Building in the very near future - stay tuned!
